What do you all do?
We’re a media company, publishing a variety of blogs and creator owned comics.

Blogs
What blogs do you publish?
We currently publish Find Paradise, I Has a Coupon and MK Travel Club.

Comics

What books do you currently publish?
We currently publish Touch of Death, Civil Wardrobe, Fiendish Fables and One Last Song.

Can I download comics that Brain Scan publishes?
Yes you can! Our current library of books can be downloaded over at Wowio and cruxy. Enjoy!

What does Brain Scan get out of publishing creator owned comics?
Generally we take $750 plus 10% of profits (all of the details will be included in the contract), everything else goes to the creator(s). Plus we get to print great books.

Do you take submissions?
Of course! Head over to our contact page and let us know you’d like to submit a book to us.

Does this mean you’ll take any of my rights away?
We have no interest in taking any of your rights, especially not your TV, movie or merchandising rights.

What is Brain Scan’s policy on collections/trade paperbacks?
We are all for them. With trades we’ll be able to take your book into places like Amazon, B&N, libraries etc.

What distributors do you sell your books through?
Primarily Diamond and Cold Cut, but various retailers contact us directly. We also sell our books online and at conventions.

Does Brain Scan offer any sort of advance?
We generally don’t. We might be able to work out something after we receive initial orders, but nothing prior.

Does Brain Scan generally purchase Previews ads (or plan any other marketing), and who pays for them?
We generally don’t do Preview ads, we market the books the following ways:
1) Internet - We set up a one page site that follows the same branding of our other properties that we are promoting/selling. We will also set up a MySpace account for additional exposure and to post news items and sample images. On top of those we will be sending press releases/updates/interviews to a majority of major online comic based news organizations/bloggers and forums.
2) Bookmarks - We have a fairly extensive mailing list of retailers that we send packages of bookmarks and descriptive information for whatever property we are marketing. The bookmarks work two-fold: A) Gives the retailer a great compressed idea of what your book is all about, and allows the retailer to offer a free-be to his/her customers. B) Free swag for the readers that also allow them an idea about what your book is about, on top of that it’s a bit more useful than a flier, the bookmarks can be used for other books.
3) Conventions - We’ll be promoting/selling your book through any conventions we attend. On top of that we have contacts with a majority of the comic conventions, we send them packets of bookmarks for their “free swag” tables.
