"Drexon Field's debut "Stratosphere Control" released on California's Attacknine Records. Friends Devin Underwood and Jared Sheehan from Boston Massachusetts present 8 tracks of their quirky electric boogaloo for your jam. Mischievous kids let loose in a room full of keyboards and drum machines. "There's something very carefree and childlike about these tunes...and disturbingly funky that i like. It makes me think of Mad Monster Party, breakdancing mummies, or ice skating with a werewolf. Neon funk and Phat shoelaces for sure!" - Nick from Freescha. Recommended for fans of; chemistry sets, Jean-Jacques Perry, sling shots, ghetto-blasters, Herbie Hancock and his robot, planets, cuttin'the rug, the L.A. Dream Team. "Drexon Field's Stratosphere Control is like the electronic-music equivalent of a cereal bowl filled with marshmallow moons and pink vampires and purple clouds...The music's bright, playful, and eccentric; it sounds like an '80s TV theme (think pastel colors, big hair boppin' around the plastic dance floor) doctored up by a mad scientist from the future. Drexon Field's music is fun, but also seriously intoxicating. It doesn't sound nostalgic or fluffy, it sounds exciting and fresh. Creativity is infectious sometimes, and this duo o [Drexon Field] sound like they're on a seriously creative jaunt, like they've been playing around in the studio and stumbling onto gold. Some of this music gets your head spinning, some of it hovers relatively close to the dance-floor, some of it is surprisingly melancholy, much of it is melodic in a fetching way, and all of it conjures up a unique, friendly, absorbing mood. And at the end of the last track, a piano comes in that sounds like it's from the turn of the last century, making you wonder if we haven't been time-tripping or stepping inside someone's brain, if this whole thing isn't just the warped dream of a riverboat musician, asleep at his piano in the year 1900. - dave heaton ERASING CLOUDS "Oh my god, I think this might be my album of the year. I'd like to be brave enough to leave it at that, but it feels like cheating. So here are some words that don't do Stratosphere Control justice... This debut album from Boston duo Drexon Field is from another dimension...Twinkling cartoon distortion, hiphop breakbeat boogie, stazi wonderland synths, warp overload, circuit breaking tartan thermos flasks, funk in neon lycra, and smacked up Amish barn builders listening to Russian plainsong on their iPods. That's what this is. Childlike keyboards dance happily over sinister drum machines...As funky as Herbie Hancock, as wacked out as The Beta Band or Flaming Lips, as regularly clockwork as Depeche Mode before Vince Clarke left. Half-heard cartoon theme tunes slide past on a sea of electronic squelches, while Superdead clowns stalk you with balloons through a haunted fairground...this album is full of mischief and invention, driven by funky beats and dreams of Scooby Doo adventures in the Addams Family house. Dracula goes on a day out on a sunny day in Whitby, eats an icecream by the harbour, get some whelks, goes up to the Abbey, sucks the blood of a virgin, and then it's back home for tea. Devin Underwood and Jared Sheehan, who make up Drexon Field, obviously had the time of their lives writing and recording it. Upbeat and infectiously happy, enthusiastic and hopeful, the world needs more albums like this one." -Angry Ape
